2018-19 CLASSES

Shakespeare's 

A Midsummer Night's Dream

Read, discuss, write about, and play with one of Shakespeare’s most famous and entertaining comedies. While performance elements are definitely involved in this class (I mean, it’s Shakespeare, isn’t it?), the will focus on diving deeply into understanding his text and how his language works. No previous knowledge of Shakespeare’s work is needed to enjoy this class. 

AGES 12-17

MONDAY EVENINGS (10 wks)

INSTRUCTOR: Dr. Dorothy Fontaine

JUNIOR STAGE

Students take a more in-depth approach to develop acting skills through creating original work, playing with improvisation, and performing shortscripts.

 

FALL SESSION: Students develop acting skills through collaborating with their fellow actors to build interesting characters and tell unique stories.

WINTER SESSION: Students delve into the rehearsal process to build their acting skills while collaborating on the performance of a short scripted play.

AGES 9-12

WEE STAGE

Saturday mornings with your preschoolers just got better! Selah Theatre is thrilled to offer classes for your favorite preschool-aged child. Class begins with play creation with students and teaching artists (while parents enjoy their morning coffee) and ends with a performance of their story for parents. Each month is a different beloved author or set of stories. Each week ends with an informal performance by the students.

AGES 4-6

SATURDAY MORNINGS (10 wks)

INSTRUCTOR : LaTasha Do'zia-Earley

SENIOR STAGE

Students form a solid foundation for acting by learning to prepare the body, mind and voice for performance; exploring improvisation; studying how to approach a script and develop a character; and working as an ensemble. Students explore both monologues and scenes from contemporary theatre.

AGES 13-18

THURSDAY EVENINGS

BEGINS SEPTEMBER 13

COST: $540 for the school year

INSTRUCTOR: LaTasha Do'zia-Earley

CENTER STAGE

Students take a step up from to build self-confidence and acting skills while creating characters, constructing scenes, performing scripts and practicing beginning theatre skills.

FALL SESSION: Students build their acting skills while collaborating on an original story.

WINTER SESSION: Students build their acting skills while exploring the rehearsal process and performing a short play with fellow actors.

AGES 7-8
