Upstage Acting Academy is Selah Theatre Project's home for young actors ready to build real skills, real confidence, and real community, all built on the Drama Notebook curriculum, our official partner for age-appropriate, sequential actor training.
Every class runs on a two-semester rhythm. In the fall, each class presents their own showcase of work. In the spring, every group comes together for one combined showcase, a chance for our youngest actors and our most seasoned teens to share a single stage.
Fall Semester: September 17 – December 3, 2026 (9 weeks, meeting Thursdays)
No class: October 8, November 12, November 26
Fall Showcase: Thursday, December 3, 2026
Spring Semester: January 7 – April 15, 2027 (12 weeks, meeting Thursdays)
No class: February 18, March 11, April 8

Center Stage (Ages 7-9)

Every actor starts somewhere. Center Stage is where the youngest artists find their footing. Using Drama Notebook's playful, age-perfect curriculum, students explore imagination, movement, and voice through games, storytelling, and simple scene work. It's the first step in learning to be brave on stage, work as a team, and have a whole lot of fun doing it.
Senior Stage (Ages 13-18)

Selah Theatre Project's most advanced teen class isn't just about acting better, it's about saying something. Using Drama Notebook's college-prep level technique, Senior Stage hands students a tool for reflection, expression, and change. Through devised theatre, monologues, and original collaborative work rooted in real issues and real truths, students learn to ask big questions and start conversations that matter.
Junior Stage (Ages 10-12)

Theatre is a team sport, and Junior Stage is where young actors learn to play it well. Built on the Drama Notebook curriculum, students dig into scene study, improv, voice, and stage technique while learning the harder, more important skill of trusting the ensemble around them. Confidence-building and team-building are baked right into rehearsal, so students grow as performers and as collaborators. By the end, they're not just acting in scenes — they're building the foundation for real production work.
Production Workshop (Ages 10-19)

Based on the outrageously funny Monty Python's Spamalot, this Young@Part production gives young performers the full experience of building a show from the ground up: table work, blocking, choreography, and technical rehearsal culminating in a full weekend of public performances. Students take on King Arthur's ridiculous, riotous quest with all the heart (and all the coconuts) of the original, learning what it really takes to bring a full-scale musical to the stage.
Rehearsals: Saturdays, October 3, 2026 – January 16, 2027 (14 sessions)
No rehearsal: November 29 (Thanksgiving weekend)
Tech Week: Monday, January 18 – Thursday, January 21, 2027
Performances: Friday, January 22 – Sunday, January 24, 2027
