Page to Stage at Handley Library
Where stories leap off the page and come alive before your eyes.
Selah Theatre Project is proud to partner with the historic Handley Library to present Page to Stage, a series that celebrates the power of literature through the lens of live performance. This series transforms beloved books, banned titles, and community stories into unforgettable theatrical experiences.
What to Expect
-
Dramatic Readings & Adaptations
Actors bring short stories, essays, and novels to life, giving voice and movement to the words we know so well from the page. -
Family Storytelling Events
Special holiday or family-friendly installments where children and parents alike experience fairy tales, folklore, and classic stories performed in interactive formats. -
Spotlight on Banned & Challenged Books
Theatre becomes a platform for free expression as we stage dramatic readings from banned and challenged works, sparking conversations about censorship, art, and the freedom to read. -
Local History & Community Voices
Episodes dedicated to Winchester’s own stories — solo performances, historical portrayals, or community readings that highlight the rich cultural heritage preserved in the Shenandoah Valley.
Why We Do It
The library is a natural home for storytelling. By bringing theatre into Handley’s historic walls, Page to Stage honors the written word while inviting audiences to experience it in a new way — bold, immediate, and unapologetic.
Each event is designed to be accessible, affordable, and thought-provoking, inviting the community to gather, listen, and see themselves in the stories we tell.
